The Last Fallen Star – A Gifted Clans Novel Book One by Graci Kim

When I first saw this book I thought, this isn’t for me but… never judge a book by its cover. Literally.

A few pages into this book, I immediately knew this was more interesting than I had first thought.

Riley is a Saram, a non-witch, and she lives with a family of Goms – one of the six clans that are a part of the mortal realm. She lives with her adoptive parents and her sister.

At the start of the book Riley’s sister Hattie is getting ready for her initiation ceremony, which is to become a witch. Riley’s mother is very strict about it, it needs to go perfectly. However, it doesn’t go perfectly and Riley goes on a long journey of pairing up with people she thought she would never come close to, all to save her sister’s life.

One of my favourite parts of the book is the initiation ceremony. The spell of giving magic to a Saram is about to be created but then… I can’t spoil it, you will have to read it yourself – I’m sure you will love it!

I did not want this book to end. I enjoyed it so much. I was thinking about reading it again but it’s a series. When I found that out, my sadness turned to excitement! When I can I will certainly be reading the other books.

I recommend this book for ages 11 to 15, and give it a 9/10 because of its great storyline that is woven throughout the book, and the perspective of Riley Oh – being able to read her thoughts.
