Shyla the Snow Brumby: Wilson Sisters Adventures Book #1 in the series
by Kelly Wilson with Nina Sutherland
Shyla the Snowy Brumby is an exciting tale of a girl and her pony. The first book of the Wilson Sisters Adventures is about Nina, a 10 year old girl with a big passion for horses. She has always been a great fan of the Wilson Sisters, although she never thought she would be working with three amazing riders to help tame a wild pony!
She works with Shyla the new wild pony, helps introduce her to the world and be ridden. But Nina knows that Shyla one day is going to leave for Australia, to compete in the Australian Brumby Challenge and be auctioned off to another rider. So Nina knows she has to make her the best pony she can.
One of the things I liked about this book is that not too long into the story it takes a twist that keeps you reading about what adventures Nina is going to next. I look forward to reading the rest of the series, as I have done with Kelly Wilson’s last series, Showtym Adventures.
Another thing that I liked is how the story was written, the cliffhangers at the start and end of chapters, and the gentle, flowing tone of the book.
I recommend this book for readers aged 9 to 12. People who love animals and are interested in horses would love this book.
I didn’t find this book sad or too hard to read. It takes you on an adventure and you can feel what Nina would be thinking throughout it.
I give this book an adventurous 8/10, for its flow and its simple yet exciting read.
