On the front cover of Driven to Succeed is a painting of bus No.8 by Wally Trickett. It was part of the 100 series of artworks produced for Tranzit’s Centenary, 50 of which are displayed in Aratoi for the book’s release.
 
This history of Tranzit company and the Snelgrove family is written by Gareth Winter. Gareth is an historian with a gift for local story-telling and  an encyclopaedic knowledge. He was born and educated in Masterton.

His curiosity about local history led him to a career as an archivist, managing the Wairarapa Archive for 24 years where he earned a reputation for innovation and accessibility to better connect the archive with its community. In 2020, Gareth received the Queen’s Service Medal for services to historical research. He has written extensively about Wairarapa, publishing hundreds of articles and 13 books.
