NEW RELEASE

The Beatles: Get Back book and Let It Be special edition album releases

“It would be fair to say that today Let It Be symbolises the breaking up of The Beatles. That’s the mythology, the truth is somewhat different. The real story of Let It Be has been locked in the vaults of Apple Corps for the last fifty years.”

The Beatles Get Back Book

The Beatles: Get Back

The Beatles: Get Back Docuseries
by The Beatles

The Peter Jackson-directed docuseries (originally streamed on Disney+) will be released on Blu-ray in a collector’s 3 disc set. The set will be accompanied by four collectors cards with photos of John, Paul, George and Ringo.

Released late February 2022.

This book is drawn from the same source material as the soon to be released feature movie to be produced by WingNut Films, Apple Corps and Walt Disney Films. Peter Jackson announced the movie last year, noting he was working with 55 hours of previously unseen film shot by Michael Lindsay-Hogg and 140 hours of audio the band recorded in January 1969.

The director called the footage “an amazing historical treasure trove. Sure, there’s moments of drama but none of the discord this project has long been associated with. Watching John [Lennon], Paul [McCartney], George [Harrison] and Ringo [Starr] work together, creating now-classic songs from scratch, is not only fascinating, its funny, uplifting and surprisingly intimate.”

The Beatles: Get Back tells the story of the ‘Let It Be’ sessions through transcripts of the band’s candid conversations. Drawing on over 120 hours of sound recordings, leading music writer John Harris has edited the richly captivating text to give us a fly-on-the-wall experience of being there in the studios.

These sessions come vividly to life through hundreds of unpublished, extraordinary images by two photographers who had special access to their sessions-Ethan A. Russell and Linda Eastman (who married Paul McCartney two months later). Also included are many unseen high-resolution film-frames, selected from the 55 hours of restored footage from which Peter Jackson’s documentary is also drawn.

Half a century after their final performance, this book completes the story of the creative genius, timeless music, and inspiring legacy of The Beatles.
